Farewell to Marcile Mack, Professor of Music at Seatte Pacific University

Professor Marcile Mack passed away March 21, at the age of 94.  She knew at an early age that music and faith were to be the core of her life, and she fulfilled that calling to the enrichment of all who knew her.

Her memorial service was last Saturday at the First Covenant Church in Seattle. It was a beautiful setting to remember her life, and there were several performances by former students.

I met Marcile when I was 16 years old, when my current piano teacher felt she could no longer give me the instruction I needed.  She gave me an introduction to Professor Mack, and I soon began studying with her at her home in Richmond Beach.  Two years later, I earned a four-year scholarship to SPU, and went on to study with Marcile for three additional years.

Over the years, we kept in touch, and I was able to speak with her on the phone a couple of years before she passed away.

Marcile had a profound influence on my life, and I'll never forget her.
