A Long Weekend in the Columbia Gorge of Washington

I had a long three-day weekend in the beautiful Columbia Gorge on the Washingon side of the river last weekend. Friday was sixty degrees and sunny, and it was a beautiful day to drive down the state and head east toward Stevenson, Washington.

I stayed at the Riverfront Lodge cabins, located right on the Columbia River. I had three days to read, sleep, take long walks, and finish a presentation I will be doing in May at my annual conference in Orlando, Florida.

I found lovely shops in the old historic downtown area of Camas, Washington, and consumed Thai food and Thai Iced Tea. I found an olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop, where I made numerous purchases of flavored oils and bread.

I am back at work today, still relaxed and enjoying the memories of my weekend away.

The Yakima Fruit Market Opened Today!

I always consider the opening date of the Yakima Fruit Market in Bothell as the first day of Spring! I've seen the date of March 2 on their billboard for about a month, and I've been counting down the days.

They opened this morning at 7 a.m., and I was there about 7:10 a.m., hungrily taking in the beautiful fruits and vegetables, and scanning the buckets full of organge and yellow tulips. It was certainly a feast for the eyes after many long months of dark, rainy and snowy weather. I even bought a small pot of miniature daffodils for my desk at work.

Officially, there are only 19 days until Spring is really here! I'm ready!
