The peony is named after Paeon , a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil, so Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower.
These peonies were in full bloom yesterday, and created an 'allee' of crimson flowers along a path at Country Village leading to a storefront at the end of the pathway.
