Christine's Crafts

At Seabrook, there are a number of vendors who are establishing their small businesses in this new beach town.  Christine has a vintage Airstream trailer parked on the premises, filled with all sorts of crafts and wonderful "beachy" items.  I had so much fun hearing the story about how she found the trailer on Craigslist.com, only three blocks from her home in Seattle.  She towed it to Seabrook and opened her business there last year.  Here's a great shot of the interior--it's beautifully decorated with a computer for her business and many wonderful things.

I left there with some great new souvenirs that will remind me of my time at Seabrook.

Susan and Polly On The Beach

We had perfect weather our three days at Seabrook--cloudless blue skies, temperatures in the 70's, and a slight wind (great for kite-flying!).  We got Polly down to the beach on Day Two, and she loved all of the sea creatures, birds, and the treasures on the beach.  She's such a good traveler, and here we are, feeling the sea air in our faces, and taking in the whole expanse of the Pacific Ocean.  What a wonderful way to end the summer!

New Seabrook Whimsical Sculpture

This is a wonderful sculpture to remind us that Seabrook is filled with Beach Cruiser bicycles, sun, sand, and relaxed and unfettered days.  These bikes can take you anywhere your mind can imagine.

Ocean Crest Resort, Pacific Beach, Washington

Three years ago, the restaurant at Ocean Crest Resort burned to the ground.  During the efforts to put out the fire, the pressure and volume of the water used by the fire department eroded so much of the shoreline that it wasn't considered possible to rebuild the restaurant.  After a year of deciding what to do, the owners found an engineer who was willing to take on the project, and a year ago, the rebuild began.  The restaurant is slightly smaller, but it is so beautiful inside that you don't really mind.  Also, 30 Elton Bennett serigraphs were lost in the fire, so the restaurant owners worked with Barbara Bennett, Elton's daughter, to purchase three works for the new restaurant.  They are three of the most stunning of Bennett's works. 

The staff gave me a wonderful tour of the restaurant, bar, and the seating area outside.  The view from the deck is undoubtedly the best ocean view on the Washington Coast.

 

 

Sundress Number 5

Still chipping away at capturing all of my beautiful sundresses on this blog--so many dresses, so little time!

Here's an oldie but goodie, and it's one of my 'early' dresses.  It was purchased at the Folk Life Festival in the 1990's, and I love the colors in this tie-died fabric.  You feel like you have to spin around and around when you are wearing this dress!

 

 

Flowers From the Summer of 2014

This year was my 'flower summer'!  While I did plant vegetables, my heart strayed to the idea of letting others more knowledgeable plant the food, and I would devote myself to beautiful blooms.  Next summer, no veggies--only flowers!
