Trilliums (Trillium spp. and cvs.) are native woodland plants. Their symmetry is lovely--three leaves, three sepals, and three petals—hence, the common name “trinity flower.” With more than 40 species to drool over, these jewels of the forest floor are a collector’s dream. Some big, some small, some white, some deep red—trilliums have a lot to offer. Most species originated in various regions of the United States, offering many gardeners a chance to grow these remarkable plants. Best of all, trilliums are fairly easygoing and will flourish and blend beautifully with other woodland plants.
Here is my neighbor Mary's black trillium. It is truly spectacular under her pine tree.

You Know You're On Vacation...
...when you can sit on a covered porch of a lovely cottage strung with fairy lights, enjoy a comfy chair with your dog, and put your feet up and enjoy hand-knitted slippers provided by the cottage's hosts! Vacations Rule!!
A Selfie and the Salty Dog
Here's a 'selfie' of me and Polly! We did some doggie-shopping at the Salty Dog Boutique, and bought Polly two new scarves to wear. She was so tired from shopping that she promptly took a nap once we got back to Wildflower Cottage!
Lunch at Ocean Crest Resort
Three years ago, the dining room of Ocean Crest Resort burned to the ground. It took three years to re-build and open again, and the restaurant is beautiful now, with a new building and new menu.
We stopped for lunch and had an incredible meal and enjoyed the lovely ocean view.

The Surf House Coffee Shop
No trip to Seabrook would be complete without a daily stop at the Surf House for tea and homemade cinnamon rolls!
Easter on the Beach
After the Easter Egg Hunt, we headed to Pacific Beach for a long walk in the beautiful, sunny weather. What a treat to have three days at Seabrook with perfect weather.
Here we are walking north on Pacific Beach, looking for shells and driftwood, and enjoying the ocean breeze.

Easter Egg Hunt at Seabrook on Easter Morning
The Seabrook Easter Egg Hunt took place on Sunday rather than Saturday this year. There were over 100 children participating, and there were Easter eggs hidden all over Seabrook! It was a sight to see, and so much fun to watch that many children hunting for eggs.

Seagulls
On this trip, I was looking for seagulls to decorate the entrance of our street. There are four large pilings out near the street, and the neighbors and I have planted trees and flowers there over the years. I wanted some sea birds to grace the nautical theme.
Here are three gulls I found scouring the gift shops in Ocean Shores.

The Salty Dog
In honor of the Easter holiday, the Salty Dog Boutique at Seabrook hosted a "tennis ball" hunt for the dogs staying at Seabrook (they didn't want the dogs missing out on the hunt!).
Polly and I left the cottage on Saturday at 11 a.m., and went in search of green tennis balls hidden all over the town. Polly found one right away, so she carried it in her mouth to the Salty Dog, where she earned a bag of dog biscuits! (and she even got to keep the tennis ball!).
She was a happy doggie.

Seabrook Bikes Sculpture
I love this work of art depicting Beach Cruiser bicycles up on the hill, beckoning us all to grab our own bikes and take a ride around the town.
Stairway to Heaven
There is the most amazing stairway down to the beach from Seabrook. It's fun going down, but it's a workout coming back up!
The beach is quiet and deserted on this part of the coast, and the homes built on the bluff have this view.

Walking the Beach on a Spring Day
There were a lot of people at Seabrook last Easter Weekend when we were there. We're used to having the beach all to ourselves.
Taking A Walk Around Seabroook
It's a wonderful experience to wake up from a midday nap and take a walk around Seabrook. There are so many things to see. On this walk, I saw a row of birdhouses, an old Beach Cruiser bicycle, Weldin House, and the new Town Hall.
Spring Weather at the Beach
I love the weather patterns at the ocean. It can go from calm and serene to cloudy and wild. Here is the sunset on Day Two. There's a little bit of everything in these shots.

Camper/Glamper Items from Crafty Christine at Seabroook
Crafty Christine (Siren Salvage) at Seabrook
I met Christine last year when we were here at Seabrook. She is a free spirit who, several years ago, towed an old Airstream trailer from north Seattle to the Seabrook retail district to set up her store. She sells all types of crafts, and has expanded her business space since last year. This year, she added a lot of vintage trailer and camping merchandise (I emailed her about what she carried), so I couldn't wait to arrive yesterday to see what I could find.
Wow--she has the most amazing camper/glamper items. I had fun shopping for "Beach Music", our 16-foot Scamp fiberglass trailer. Also take a look at our blog "The Musican, The Poet and the Scamp" at the link below.

Day Two at Seabrook
Saturday dawned cold and rainy and windy (typical beach weather!). We cooked breakfast and ate Hot Cross Buns in honor of Easter tomorrow, then cleaned up the kitchen and headed up to the retail district for a dog tennis ball hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (it's a canine version of an Easter egg hunt!).
Polly found a green tennis ball, so we walked up to The Salty Dog Boutique and exchanged our tennis ball for lots of dog biscuits. Polly got to meet two other dogs there, and little Eddie, a three-month-old golden retriever, tried to steal Polly's biscuit. Polly, however, didn't let it happen.
We drove to Ocean Shores to do some shopping, and we always love the 10 mile drive from Seabrook to Ocean Shores.

Anniversary Weekend at Seabrook
Don and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with four days at Seabrook! We've saved for this event all year, and we left home early Friday morning. We had a wild weather trip down through Olympia and then on to the coast via Powell Road through Ocean City and Pacific Beach.
The weather was nice when we arrived at Seabrook, so we took the dog for a walk and then unpacked. We had a lovely meal from Mill 109 pub, and then I took a long walk around the town and shot some pictures since I had a clear afternoon and evening (no rain!).
Day One was over in a flash. Vacation days always go so quickly.
Here are pictures of Wildflower Cottage, our two-bedroom, two-bath home on Nap Lane.

Flowering Crabapple Tree
The buds are just forming on the Flowering Crabapple tree. In the next two weeks, this tree will be ablaze with large, magenta-colored blossoms. It's the most spectacular show in the yard each year.
